Keystone Activities: Things To Do In Keystone When You're Not Skiing or Riding

You Won't be Training Every Hour of Every Day While You Are in Keystone.. What Are Your Options?

Keystone offers a wide variety of activities to keep you busy when you’re not on the slopes. There is something for all ages and stages, from thrill seeking to mellowing out.

  • Tubing: Located on top of Dercum mountain. Inflatable tubes designed for sliding as fast as you can down the slopes. Lots of fun with a group. Runs daily and at night. Tickets can be purchased at the Green Light at the base of River Run. Bookings essential in holiday time.
  • Snow bikes: Located at top of Dercum mountain, at the tubing centre. Lots of fun if you want to rest the legs but keep the pace! Runs daily, comes with a lesson. Tickets can be purchased at the Green Light at the base of River Run.
  • CAT Skiing: Keystone has developed CAT skiing in the last few years. There are two options: a full day trip or pay by number of rides. The all day trip takes you to Independence Bowl and Ericsson’s Bowl; both have excellent backcountry skiing. The option per ride is off the Outback mountain lift, which then connects to the CAT. A fantastic option for a powder day or when you’re on the hunt for fresh lines.
  • Snow Mobiling: Organised through Keystone events co-ordinators who operate out of the River Run village. Transport is provided to the Summit County mountains (Rockies), where the mobiling takes place. Pick up is the village. Fantastic day out and both a half-day and full day option are available.
  • Dog Sledding: Also organised through Keystone events co-ordinators who operate out of the River Run village. Transport is provided to the Summit County mountains (Rockies), where the sledding takes place. Pick up is the village. A unique opportunity to experience how the mountain pioneers traveled (and how some mountain transportation still takes place today in remote parts of the world).
  • Ice skating: Located at the Keystone lodge, Keystone resort has the biggest outdoor commercial rink in America at over 1 acre in size. Plenty of room for tricky manoeuvres, although it’s no less painful to crash on a big rink. An ice hockey rink operates on the ice and all equipment can be hired at a flat rate. Open daily and at nights. Great to skate under the stars and then indulge in pizza and a beer next to the rink.
  • Nordic skiing: Located just outside the ski area boundary; miles of tracks winding their way through the forest trees. All equipment is available to hire. Balance, co-ordination and fitness are well tested in this adventure activity.
  • Gym: Keystone has a fitness centre located at the Keystone Lodge. A well equipped compact gym complete with outdoor heated pool, hot tubs, sauna and steam room. Masseuses are available on appointment. Membership options vary: pay per session, per month or a contract deal. Great rates for Keystone employees.
