Why choose Rookies…
But don’t take our word for it read what our clients have to say…..
I am just writing to say a big, huge THANK YOU! As Emily Luke’s Finance Director, Logistic Manager and Mum I have been involved every step of the way from the moment she first heard of the Rookie Academy at York College over 2 years ago to her now imminent departure for Canada. I have been immensely impressed with your company, your courses, your staff and the hands on approach you both give to the organisation. Every parent wants to see their child fulfill their dreams and we were quite amazed when Emily declared she wanted to travel to New Zealand after college to do a ski instructors course – she has never been quite as adventurous as her 2 brothers! Investing in Emily’s trip to New Zealand came with the hope that she wouldn’t be disappointed and that she would get her (our) money’s worth. Well I have to say you have exceeded our expectations on both counts – thank you. It was important to us, sat on the other side of the world 10 hours behind, that Emily had good support in New Zealand and the help to carry her onto the next stage of being a ski instructor….
If you are thinking about becoming an instructor and you want expert training, then Rookie Academy is the place to go!!Wanaka is an awesome place to spend the season learning and having a damn good time!
The guys at Rookies helped me out with any problems I had before, during and after the course, these guys really do care about the people they have on their course. They weren’t just our trainers/instructors but our friends too.
All in all…if you want to be a ski or snowboard instructor, there is no better place, and I will almost definitely be returning in the future!
The trainers you have on the board program were top quality and a great bunch to hang out with, please pass on my thanks to Richie, Keith, Ben, Liz and Kyra. I would like to particularly big up Keith as I rode with him for a number of weeks. You’ve got to get him back for next year! He was so much fun, really enthusiastic, always giving our group little bits of feedback on our riding and gave me heaps more confidence to own the mountain! It was cool that the guys were also always happy to give advice on equipment (i wish I hadnt bought my board before the course!) and that of course added another learning aspect to the training.
The apartments were also amazing! A great place to chill and relax, (although living above Hattie and Kate made for many entertaining moments!) and despite the distance from the town centre, an awesome place to be. The late night walks home were never dull when the stars were out – You’d never see anything like that in the London night sky!
Of all the places in NZ, I miss Wanaka the most. It’s a stunning place to live and I only saw it in the winter/early spring! I’d seriously consider moving there if it becomes a possibility…
“My name in Ryan did the 8 week course in the 08 09 seasson I had wanted to do this course since I was in 11th grade in high school. I think this course changed my life I was going to college and was not doing what I loved to do whitch is snowboard. I lived in Colorado and got up there as much as I could but really want to live up there and teach kids how to snowboard so I decided to finally take this course and I have never dreamed of the out come I got my level 1 and did my level 2 pre course. And plan on doing my level 2 next seasson and maybe go on to level 3 who know but the instructors are amazing could not ask for more. I would recommed this course to anyone snowboard or skier. You will have the best time of your life.”
Everyone on the rookie course has thier own objectives for attending, well I had worked for 20 years since leaving school, and a lot of family and friends thought I was having some kind of mid life crisis(maybe I was). I travelled to Wanaka under no illusions, and the trainers turned me into an instructor,
confident and technically astute.
Well I now have a job in Canada, and can’t wait to start, I’d recommend the Rookie Academy to anyone.
Thanks to all the trainers.
It was an excellent experience, one which I would recommend to any of my friends or relatives who were considering anything like this.
I would recommend it over other such courses mostly due to the location, Treble Cone is the best mountain I’ve ever had the pleasure of riding on.
Thank you Dean and Garret for your efforts throughout the season. Also thanks to the snowboard trainers, you weren’t just trainers, but also friends.
