Jamie Trigg 2006 13 Week Ski Course
I found out about the rookie academy researching the internet, out of all of the instructor training programs it was the one that appealed to me the most. When I contacted them I was surprised how friendly they were but also how much they were prepared to go out of their way to help me out in making what was at the time a really big decision to completely change my life. This level of service and attention remained consistent throughout the course.
Having passed my NZ Stage 1 and BASI 3 exams I am now working in Keystone, Colorado, but it is only since I started my new job as a ski instructor that I really appreciate how much the Rookie Academy Training, Advice and Tuition really does prepare you for the real thing.

I have been with the Rookie Academy for 2 seasons now and just want to say a huge thank you to the crew. The training you guys provide is awesome and i progressed further than i ever thought. Everyone i work with at Snowbird were amazed with the skills that i process without the experience. The trainers are amazing teacher and more , they are friendly, skilled, and approachable. Now i have am dual certified stage 1 instructor and have a great start of my Snowsport Career. I could not ask for better training.

Marcello Leucci 2006 USA course
I had a brilliant time boarding with Rookies '06. Training + trainers were absolutely phenomenal. Great accommodation and us rookies were loving the 5 mountain pass - loads of powder, trees, powder, bumps and more powder.. Shadowing at the Keystone Ski & Ride school during the course was great experience and working there this season has been excellent - best job in the world..

The way the course is structured is absolutely superb! Andrew 2006 5 Week CSIA Level 2 Course
The five week CSIA Level 2 Course delivered everything it promised and a bit more. Gems like ‘There is no point teaching you bad habits just so you can pass your two, I am training you for full cert’ indicate the general professional attitude towards skiing and instructor development, whilst this as a bit of a shock on day one we eventually came to see his point. We were aided by a fantastic snow base and regular top ups, there were also a couple of really good powder days that happened to coincide with ‘days off’. All the trainers were enthusiastic, knowledgeable, professional and personable – all good examples of what I aspire to be. For the enthusiastic and reasonably strong skier who is willing to listen and change the bad habits of a life time this is a great foundation for the step into the world of professional ski instruction.

I have had a really good season at Mt Hutt. Your programme has set me up really well. This season i have done my elementary race coaches course for skiing and am about to do a telemark crossover course. On the snowboarding side I have done my freestyle exam and have also passed my stage 2. I am doing the avalanch course towards the end of the season so that i have my ISIA qualification. I have had a really good season and am looking forward to working at Beaver Creek.

The Rookie trainers did a phenomenal job preparing me for my Stage 1 exam, my personal skiing and understanding of teaching skiing improved dramatically as a result of the Rookie program, every aspect of the course was fun, and Treble Cone and Wanaka are amongst the best places in New Zealand

Andrew Stanford 2006 13 Week Ski Course
Just wanted to drop you both a quick e-mail, so i can keep in contact and say thank you. Having left New Zealand at the beginning of october arrived in Canada only two weeks ago to start my first job as a ski instructor (which you found for me!). I today taught a 3 hour lesson and a one hour lesson. They were both with only one student and both were only 4 years old. It was fantastic fun and both students learnt a lot more than i would expect.
If it were not for Rookie Academy i may well still be in England working a dead end sales job. Only 5/6 months ago i had skiied for a total of 5 weeks over 10 years now i am qualified and working as an instructor. I really want to thank both of you and all the other trainers and people involved. I have a much better lifestyle and a far far more rewarding job.

Hello 2007…Rookies,
Just finished an amazing 2006 season in Colorado, heaps of powder, moguls, charging through the trees and long fast runs down the piste.
All the Rookies enjoyed the awesome 5 massive mountains Vail resorts have to offer, and simply the best ski and snowboard instructor training with Rookie Academy.The 2006 Rookies all passed their PSIA/AASI exams and Keystone offered all the 2006 Rookies a teaching position for the 2006/07 season.
All are now traveling throughout America towards home while several have stayed on ski/ride out the rest of the season plus WORK for Keystone Ski & Ride School.
