Rob began skiing at the early age of 6 and has come a long way from throwing his poles, gloves, hat, goggles and skis down the learners slope. Being the token Aucklander, Rob used to come down with his family to Treble Cone back in the days when Wanaka was a backwards little farming town in the middle of nowhere. My how times have changed…

Rob’s association with the Rookie Academy started when studying ‘full time’ at Otago University in 1996. Enrolling in the weekend course and spending 5 days a week in Wanaka, Rob passed his NZSIA Stage 1 and has never looked back. Currently, Rob is one of the senior trainers on the NZSIA and CSIA courses, having completed numerous seasons over in Canada, Japan and the States. It is now his students who can often be seen throwing things down certain slopes.

Being one of the longest standing trainers with the Academy and having gone through the process himself, Rob enjoys the challenge of training different personalities, different learning styles and different lifestyles… Being the long-haired ‘hippie’ of the bunch, Rob brings a new level of enthusiasm, energy, truth and knowledge to an otherwise nerdy bunch…

Oh yeah, Rob also likes long walks on the beach and a good old fashioned hug from time to time.
