I started skiing when I was 2 years old on
the Cairngorms in the North of Scotland, winning my first ski race when I was 9
years old, I continued ski racing until 24 years old and during this time I was
a member of the British ski Team and won Scottish and British titles. I started
studying Civil Engineering when I was 17 years old, however ski racing got in
the way of finishing the degree. I completed a Diploma in Sports Coaching and
after ski racing I started a coaching career. This included being head coach of
the Scottish team, supervisor at Mount Hutt Race department in New Zealand and head Coach of Wanaka ski team in
New Zealand.
I then started to get involved in ski teaching and became A BASI Trainer and
examiner in 1990. In 1995 I took on the role of Training Manager for BASI which
I continued with until 2005. Then took on the role of Chief Executive for BASI
until the end of 2008, when I started up a new ski school in Chatel on the
French/Swiss border.
I am married with three children and intend
to make more time for the family in the next few years. I really appreciate the
opportunity to work with Rookie
Academy as it allows me
to put my coaching and teaching skills into practice and ski with some great
people in one of the most beautiful ski fields in the world. So I am looking
forwards to a good winter and some great skiing.
