Kyra started skiing at the age of two. She competed in local mogul and freestyle competitions as a young teenager. At the age of 12 she traded her skis in for a new snowboard and hasn’t looked back. 

At 15 she became a snowboard instructor volunteer. Named ‘Volunteer of the Year,’ she obtained her instructor certification as quickly as possible. After finishing high school she moved to western Canada where she could teach and train six months of the year. She successfully obtained her CASI level 3, Freestyle 1, and CSIA 1. She also went on to become ‘Rookie of the Year’ and ‘Most Requested Instructor.’ On her days off she competed in and won provincial boarder cross races.

She started spending summers in New Zealand in 2007 and worked part time for Rookie Academy in 2008 and full time in 2009.

In between seasons she instructs horse riding lessons and trains young horses. She enjoying anything to do with outdoor life and of course travel.
