Keystone Offers A Friendly Vibrant Base For Your Rookie Instructor Training Course.
Developed around the Resort, Keystone is a vibrant and friendly resort town with all the amenities you need for a happy stay in the Rockies within easy reach.
You'll need to range further afield for some things but Keystone has much to offer beyond its impressive lineup of bars and apres ski hangouts.
Shops:
There are many good shops within the River Run village. You'll find: clothing and accessories, photo shops, real estate firms, souvenir, gift shops and such like.
Need gear? Both Christy Sports and Keystone Sports, two well known sporting chains, operate in the village for boot fitting, ski and board gear, etc. And Keystone Sports, a subsidiary of Vail Resorts, offers Keystone staff discounts for interns.
Mountain House is similar to River Run but on a much smaller scale. There are a handful of shops and Keystone Sports has a store there too.
Medical Clinic:
The Medical Clinic is based at Mountain House. It is a great facility with parking right outside. It operates mainly as an emergency clinic for the mountain, but scheduled appointments can be made to see a doctor or nurse. Don’t plan on spending any time here!!
Employee Centre:
Set up for Keystone Staff. Issues uniforms and seasons pass. Has a notice board to keep staff informed about what’s happening and advertises any up and coming events, ie: trips to NHL hockey games or NBA basketball games in Denver. They also organize trips to other fields such as Winter Park and Aspen. These trips are well worth participating in as they are good value for money and a good day out.
The centre has Internet facilities, which can be booked for up to an hour or a 10 minute walk in service.
Services in and around Keystone:
Keystone has the basic necessities to keep you going. The following are very handy to the staff housing – within walking distance.
- Gas/petrol station: Located on Highway 6.
- Grocery store: Located in the gas station building on Highway 6.
- Liquor store: Located next to the gas and grocery store.
Bus services:
Around Keystone are set bus routes with designated pick-ups and drop offs. They operate off a timetables which are posted at the bus stops and available from guest services and off the drivers themselves. When these buses are not running, the Ease bus can be called. |
