Qualifications: AASI-RM Ed Staff, (AASI-RM Full Cert, AASI-RM Children’s Specialist, AASI-RM Freestyle Specialist 1, AASI-RM Rocky Mountain Trainer). AASI-RM Committee Member, Helped to rewrite the last 3 versions of the Vail Snowboard Manual and Vail Children’s Snowboard Manual.

Career Highlight: Through snowboarding I have been on the silver screen and on TV. Feature’s include: Warren Miller’s movie Impact; CNN Snowboarding Tips; 2 versions of MTV’s Made.

Other Interests: I love being in shape and riding bikes, eating good food, drinking good wine, and like my name says, I love chocolate. Other then that, I love to travel, read books, and meet people around the globe. Currently I have traveled to over 20 countries around the globe, which includes 4 continents.

Hershy began his snowboarding career instructing and training at a small resort in the mid-west. In 1998 after university, he began to realize his dream and moved out west to Colorado to begin working and training at Keystone Mountain. After a few years at Keystone, Vail Resorts recruited Hershy, to train their instructors and work with their private cliental. Hershy’s success grew at Vail Mountain and soon became one of two instructors to pass the AASI-RM Trainer’s Accred Exam in 2001. Upon passing the course, AASI-RM offered Hershy a job on the education staff.
Since 2001, Hershy has been running clinics and exams from the ITC course to the TA exam.

His drive and passion in training and teaching is helping instructors do what he loves most, helping people achieve goals that they believed were previously impossible. With a deep understanding of biomechanics and his personalized style of instruction, he can accurately and effectively help students do more then they thought possible. For Hershberger, snowboarding is a gateway. His main hope is that through snowboarding, once students start believing that they can do more and be more then they thought, this belief will then overflow into all areas of their life.

Hershy is a premier trainer and instructor in North America. Having helped write the last three versions of the Vail snowboard manual, he now spends his winter days training instructors throughout the Rocky Mountains, and working with his private clients at Vail.
