Emily Smith

Emily began skiing when she was three years old all around the mountains of Colorado. Growing up in Colorado it was a sin if you weren’t born on skis, and having three older siblings meant ski trips were all about keeping up.

After seven years of playing field hockey collegially and internationally, Emily decided it was time to move back home to the mountains of Colorado. She returned to one of the mountains her family grew up skiing, Steam boat, Colorado, where she taught and trained for four seasons. During her stint in Steamboat she met a couple of Rookie Academy Trainers who convinced her to spend the season at Treble Cone in 2000. The following season, after gaining PSIA full certification status, Emily found herself as a member or the Rookie Academy Training Team.

Before the Northern Hemisphere season of 2003, Emily decided to make the move from Steamboat, CO to Keystone, Colorado where she is now the Training Coordinator of the ski school. She spends her winters training the staff as well as the Rookie Academy USA clients. Emily enjoys having an entire season to develop candidates and enjoys seeing them grow throughout a season.

In her down time, Emily enjoys running, traveling and spending time with her niece and nephew and family who for the most part have all moved back home to Colorado.
