Eating In & Out

EATING OUT

Dining out in Wanaka can range from fish and chips on the lakefront to fine dining at one of the many restaurants. Restaurants include, Indian, Mexican, Thai, Seafood, along with a Japanese café with a kiwi twist, an organic café and three quite different pizza restaurants.

One of the favourite spots for Rookies is down Post Office Lane. It is an almost hidden lane in town where you will find two great bars, a pizza and pasta restaurant called “The Cow” and a fine dining establishment with the unique name of “Botswana Butchery”.

All the cafes in town serve great lattes and the delicious cooked breakfasts are worth getting a hangover for.

EATING IN

Wanaka has one main supermarket in the centre of town where you will purchase your grocery items, from fresh produce to meats, frozens, a beer and wine section and a delicatessen.

Fresh fruit and vegetables are also available from the Mediterranean food market along with bulk food products, fresh breads, cheeses and pastas.

Over the road from the market is the local butchery where you can source all cuts of meat and the ever-popular local sausage for the BBQ.
