BASI Level 1

This is a 5 day on-snow foundation Course for all subsequent training and certification. This course will be open to snowboarders who have reached a technical level as described in the guidelines set out above. The object of the course is to familiarise students with the Association and to prepare them for further learning. It is an opportunity for people to find out what snowboard teaching involves and the type of development they will require before attending the Snowboard Instructor Training Course.

BASI Level 2

Students attend a 10 day on-snow training course covering the following topics.

1. Technical Snowboarding (practical) A thorough grounding in the snowboard instructor technical syllabus (central theme)
2. Snowboard Teaching (practical)
   Training, analysis and practice of teaching snowboarding using the progression skills from the technical syllabus.
3. Client care
4. Theory and off-snow content

• Safety and fitness for Snowboarding
• Communications
• Lesson planning
• Technical consolidation
• Principles and practice of snowboard teaching
