The Rookie Academy CSIA course is directed by Steve Smart a CSIA senior examiner for 15 years and a 3 time member of Canada’s elite Inter-ski team.
Gain equivalency for your foreign certification and be eligible to sit the CSIA full certification level 3 courses.
Your qualifications will be taken into consideration when your application is being reviewed. Once you are granted equivalency, you will be considered a CSIA Foreign Affiliate Member. You may not be considered as a Regular Member until you have taken an appropriate CSIA certification course. Once you have successfully completed this course, your status will be changed to Regular Member. Taking the next level of CSIA certification is beneficial for all members. By successfully completing these advanced courses for CSIA certification, you can obtain international recognition and increased standing as a ski instructor.

You would suit these courses if:
- You have achieved either the CSIA level 2 certification or the foreign equivalency offered by the CSIA
- You are prepared to participate in an intensive 4 weeks of training with over 80 hours of on-snow training plus more than 10 hours of off-snow CSIA workbook sessions.
- You are interested in working as a ski instructor in Canada or other countries that recognized the ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) standards.
- You want to progress as a professional ski instructor.
- You are looking to challenge your existing skill level.
- You want to be a part of the international ski instructor fraternity that the Rookie Academy can offer you.
Course Outline:
The CSIA course specific curriculum is spread out over the first 3 weeks of the course. In these 3 weeks we do everything we can to ensure you master the skills and techniques you need to pass the exams in the 4th week.
Also included is a NZSIA Technical Free Ski camp run during week 1. This camp will give you an insight into the skiing philosophies of the New Zealand Ski Instructors Alliance.
The Rookie Academy 4 week ski instructor courses package includes:
- Season pass to Treble Cone ski area
- Door to door transport to & from the Treble Cone ski area for 4 weeks
- Accommodation for 4 weeks
- 80 hours of on snow, ski training 5 hours a day - 4 days per week
