The Rookie Academy 4-week Professional Ski Instructors Association (PSIA) training course has been designed specifically for those who wish to take their Ski Instructing career to the next level.
You would suit this course if:
- You have achieved either the PSIA 1 or 2 certification
- You are prepared to participate in an intensive 4 weeks of training with over 80 hours of on-snow training plus more than 10 hours of off-snow PSIA workbook sessions.
- You are interested in working as a ski instructor in America or other countries that recognized the PSIA and ISIA (International Ski Instructors Association) standards.
- You want to progress as a professional Ski Instructor.
- You are looking to challenge your existing skill level.
- You want to be a part of the international ski instructor fraternity that the Rookie Academy can offer you.
The Training
The groups will focus on skill development techniques in a variety of terrain and conditions, increasing your confidence and technical abilities. The PSIA course specific curriculum is spread out over the 4 weeks of the course allowing for maximum retention of the information.
Training towards PSIA certification exams in the Southern Hemisphere offers you a totally unique opportunity to gain valuable experience and a desirable level of Skiing for working back in America
The Rookie Academy PSIA course Trainers are Bob Barnes, senior PSIA Examiner and Training Manager for Keystone Ski & Ride School, Emily Smith, a PSIA examiner, member of the Vail Demo team and senior trainer in the Rookie Academy and other top international Rookie Academy trainers
Ultimately this 4-week course will help you fulfill your ambitions of becoming a true professional ski instructor.
4 week PSIA Cert 2 and 3 Training outline
Week 1 Basic stance skill assessment, Sterring mechanics and Drill development
Week 2 Mogul skiing, PSIA maneuver and demonstration preperation
Week 3 Review of first 2 weeks, situational skiing (steeps, off piste)
Week 4 Personal development focus, guided practice and ski mileage
The Rookie Academy 4-week Ski Instructor course package includes:
- 25 day pass to Treble Cone ski area
- Door to door transport to & from the Treble Cone ski area
- Accommodation for 4 weeks
- 90 hours, on and off snow training, training 5 hours a day - 4 days per week
- Video analysis and debriefing
- Rookie Academy apparel
- 4 weeks in beautiful Wanaka New Zealand
